Last week or so I was surfing around iTunes and made myself a list of songs I could listen to when summer rolls around. (You see, I have a tendency to associate good songs with summer and vice versa and want no winter connections whatsoever).

But then I was like "whatever" and decided to just buy them anyway because I need some new music.
I guess it would be rude to talk about all that and never tell you what I'm listening to. Here you go:

It's 12:35, yes it is, but I know that if I don't take care of this here post it won't be done for the next three weeks probably and then I might be worrying some of you dears.

It's probably strange to say that I was super busy over my two week Christmas break. Well, I may not have been too busy, but I was certainly otherwise occupied. The this now though is that I'm going to be extra otherwise occupied these next few weeks with the end of term (plenty of makeup work) and the state level of Distinguished Young Women this month. What I mean to say is that you probably won't hear from me for a while so don't go worrying, because I will be back. A brand new me will be back. I can already feel it.

To hold you over here is a list of things in list form:

-I watched Midnight In Paris at long long long last and serious loveitsomuch.

Especially the music, oh boy oh boy.

-I got an iPhone. What? Yes kids.

Instagram is sort of my new blog, follow it: rosie0h

-That O is a 0, it sort of happened accidentally, all the good usernames were taken.

-2012 is going to be mounds better than 2011 and I know that for straight up fact.

I can tell by the way my checklists have been getting very checked even in these first three days.

-It was over 50 degrees here today. I windows-down drove today.

Utah, did you ever hear about how you're supposed to be the greatest snow on earth!?

Not cool (no pun intended).

- There is just too much to do, and I know that for a straight up fact as well.

Well kids, it looks like I'm just not in the blogging habits lately but that doesn't mean that I can't get back into it. All it will take is 21 days, right? Also, this is my 410th post.

I don't know how I found this look book. It's a sweater brand, and I wish I could remember. But I was getting all sentimental over those green leaves. Letmetellyou, I would deal with a green Christmas if green Christmases looked like this. Somehow it still looks so full of Christmas spirit, probably due to the nature of the sweaters and those green boots.

Oh. Boy.

It's been a while since my last post you say? Don't be silly, it's only been like two weeks.

OkOk. Lots has happened in those two weeks, the most pressing matter being this:

My time as a blogger for BP Nordstrom is finally up!

I've been doing that thing for two years.

(an exceptional span. considering the normal turn is one year.)

I'm not going to lie, I sure miss that little gig already. But it isn't only an end of an era, it's also the beginning, and a lucky one for you too. I mean, lets be honest, they are all over my life and also my room.

It's only a few weeks late... but I just thought I'd share my Halloween costume anyhow.

here it is: an aviator.

knee-high boots were obviously a part of this.

you better believe I faux-bobbed.

Everyone was making Amelia Earhart comments, so I just yelled at them things like, "I'm not Amelia Earhart, I'm just a pilot in general!!" Needless to say I made a lot of friends that day.

As for the decor, my little brothers put together a pretty swell spook alley outside our house, and I would be remised if I didn't share it with you:

(I say 're' because J.Crew sparked that fire a while ago with a certain killer bronze sequin skirt, which I still wish I'd gotten...)

they were virtually impossible to find.

Hello kids, I'm back already.

I came and went and here I sit on my bed in little old Utah feeling awfully full of missingness for New York already. I felt so revived and in control and refreshed this weekend and I'm already getting panicky that all those good intentions have been sucked away in my mere two hour exposure to high school today.

I have an awful lot to do in order to make the grade by end of term this Friday, but I can't say I wish I'd spent the weekend here getting things done because that obviously wouldn't have happened anyway.

You can expect posts this week about my adventures (I did a mucho bueno job at taking reasonable amounts of pictures and writing notes and journal entries this time, of which I am proud.)

Let's be honest. Packing for New York is probably the hardest thing ever to pack for.
Correction: packing for New York when your purpose there is to attend fashion seminars, with lots of teens, and lots of fashionable people, is probably the hardest thing ever to pack for.
In essence, I'm trying to sum up my entire being and style in three outfits.

I tried to get all inspired, but that quickly resulted in my being convinced that the one thing I need for this trip is a sequined skirt, which of course is the one thing I do not own.

That is my favorite thing right now.

You know, when your not at school when you should be.
And the sun is coming up over the mountains.

And its not really warm or cold outside.
It's just the morning?

Yes. That is my favorite.
If there's anything I'm excited for when I graduate it's getting to be up and about at 8 am on weekdays.

I don't know if you noticed but I didn't blog all week.

Nor did I send my mail circuit package on time...

Nor did I get to bed early like I wanted to...

Nor did I keep my room clean.

Life this year has suddenly been a lot more lifelike.

I haven't spent as much time on the computer as I used to.

(Which makes me sound like I was a real nerd)

But it's the truth. and I probably was/am a real nerd.

I've been doing homework, I've been driving, I've been working, I've been interning, I've been talking to people more, I've been smiling a lot, and I've been judging everything a whole lot less, and I've been leaping like a pony - see photo above. It turns out when you do these things you actually need less "inspiration" than you think you do.

Because... "taking time to live life will only inspire your work"

That is why I haven't blogged as much. I've been living more.

and now I'm going to go make crepes for breakfast.

... and now I must write a response. But, I think I've already mentioned how I feel about this stuff.

This year, I am not taking hard classes. This is not to say that I am taking easy classes, I'm just taking worthwhile classes. I'm taking math, I'm taking AP english, I'm taking my sixth year of French class, and I'm taking interior design and photography. None of it really qualifies as 'hard', but it qualifies as interesting. And when your whole schedule is full of interesting and you actually really want to do a good job, it turns into 'hard'. Especially when you have time management issues like, ahem, someone I know... who is me. And if you asked me what I've been doing all day, I would answer to you "No, I have not been making covers for my binders and online browsing ASOS. That is for sure..."

Haha, Oh school, what am I to do about you?

Sixteen going on Seventeen

If you didn't already know, it's my birthday.

All I wished for was a macaroon stack with a sparkler in it...

And these green jeans and some round sunglasses.

Instead, I ended up blaming my almost excessive H&M loot on my birthday and ended up with a pair of round sunglasses, but not the green jeans because my little brother got a pair of those instead (jealous.)
The bakery wasn't answering the phone so tomorrow my mom and I are going to embark on the mission of making our own macaroons. We will probably end up buying some cherry chip cake mix like I've done for all my life leading up to this.

I'm feeling glum because I have hardly any inklings of excitement for my birthday this year. I think it's because I'm 90% exhausted from our vacation this week, and because I ruined my birthday present surprise by finding the box last month. Let me tell you, it's been a while since I've gotten a real birthday surprise (besides my bike.)

So here's how Distinguished Young Women goes down...

1: You have an interview with judges the night before. See picture of me in blue dress.
2: On stage you preform in the following categories...
Fitness, Talent, Self Expression
3: Fitness entails doing choreographed pushups, jumping jacks and the like, on stage and looking cute while you're at it. Actually just displaying endurance, muscle tone etc...
4: Talent entails doing a talent. Some girls did piano, harp, monologues, and dancing. I was a dancer. I danced to Judy Garland's The Trolley Song.
5: Self Expression entails wearing a fancy cocktail dress, walking in heels, and then pulling a question while backstage and proceeding to go on stage to answer said question. I had to talk about being studious.
6: Then you sit backstage while judges deliberate on those categories as well as your interview and a scholastic score. See photo of girls sitting on floor in fancy dresses.
7: Then you go out and stand on stage while awards are given in each category. The categories I won are Fitness, Interview, and Self Expression.
8: Then there are three overall winners and I was one and it was good times all around!
9: Winning entails getting to be in the town parade, and then also going on to compete at the state level in January. Woohoo!

and that is how its done.

I'm proud to say that I did it all myself. I tackled that rascally photoshop and did it myself.
There are a few elements that need to be mended, but it's 1 am, so I'll tackle those later.

But everyone needs a little change very so often.

The 'everything is rosie' font is called Eccentric, and let me tell you, I was so excited that I found the actual font based off an inspiration picture of packaging. Huzzah!

...plus I've had some time on my hands now that I'm not preparing any costumes and speeches for Distinguished Young Women. (I joke, I didn't ever have to prepare any speeches.)

At this exact moment last night I was in a theater after waiting four hours in a parking lot with... Hagrid?

I don't think it's sunk in yet that that whole era is really over. It's too sad to think about!!
I do certainly think that was the only movie that will ever be worth going to at midnight. People were laughing and cheering and all dressed up and super into it all, and it was good times all around, even when the theater was full of sniffles.

Highlights included Neville being awesome and various awkward Voldy moments.
...and there was also this one time while we were waiting in line that me and my plus one were maybe playing with the yellow plastic tape keeping us in line, and then accidentaly snapped it, and then my brother (unknowingly) said "Woah people got so crazy they broke the tape!" Those crazies...

But really, the movie was so dang good.

We've been busy watching The Beatles Anthology documentaries over here, and now I think The Beatles are super cool all over again. Not the "oh yeah, The Beatles, I totally think they're cool" cool, but the "John, Paul, George, and Ringo!! They're cool!!"cool.

I went through a Beatles phase a few summers ago, but I mostly thought the "oh yeah, The Beatles, I totally think they're cool" version of them. But now that I possess the knowledge and insights that the Anthology presented me, I think "they're cool!!"

John Lennon is our new favorite.

I took a huge sigh of relief when I realized I still have 7 years until I'm 23.

7 years is a long time.

I can handle 7 years.

I can't handle, however, the fact that there are less than 2 months until I'm a senior in high school.

I can honestly say that every single day, I daydream about future endeavors as a high school graduate. College, study abroad, jobs, etc. I've got a lot of dreams to live up to. But when I realize that those will be happening in one year, I feel a huge disconnect.

"I've never seen myself as a senior"

"It's so much sooner than I thought"

"I can't even go to camp with people I know without calling my mom"

"I don't know how to grocery shop or fix a car or take the right train!!"

"I don't want to leave home!!!"

so I decide not to think about it.

Oh Hey!!

Look at me, I'm back! You may not have known I even left, but I did.
I went to Lake Powell for camp.

It wasn't much of 'camp' because we stayed on houseboats and I only touched shore maybe a combined 1 hour out of 4 days. (Probably the reason why I feel like I'm about to tip over and can't go up and down normal stairs now that I'm home).

I had a disposable camera but didn't take it out until the very end. I knew I'd want pictures to blog, but my favorite times of day never saw the lens of the disposable. When the sun was right over head I could have gone home and not missed it, but the mornings and evenings and nights were enough to keep me around.

We slept up on the roof under stars.
When I woke up the white roof was glowing in the purple and pink and blue light of the crack of dawn.
It was windy up there. But it was cooler than anywhere else.
Then the uncharacteristic sun bore down on us until...
The evening when the sky turned purple (matched my nail polish) and the canyons made big shadows over the lake.

One morning the water was glass.

I'm quite acquainted with the morning and night boat rides because I was a baby and got to go out to get reception and call my mom. Three cheers for calling home!!!

One night we stayed up late on the roof (like girls at camp do) and clouds rolled in, we got sprinkled on, and the stars were only visible through little patches.

We made jokes about ring tailed cats, and kayaked out to a crevice in the rocks where we saw 7 lizards (woohoo). Then we wiped out pretty bad on the tube and that was the beginning of extra-nausea inducing 'head injuries.' Turns out, unless you are bleeding, bruised, or in need of icing, no one thinks your injuries are worth their attention. (But let me tell you, we hit the water head first, on the same crash that bruised/cracked a girls rib. How's that for a head injury.)

and the best part is that I escaped sunburn free.
Which is more than most people could say.
Turns out rash-guard turtlenecks and a big hat and towels over your legs pays off.
And I had just as much fun as anyone.

It's Ruby!

She is rather large in comparison to the other bunny who is extra petite now.
Ruby basically has a tutu because her bum/leg area is fluffy and she also has a slight beard.
Still, she is quite the charmer...

new shoes make the world go 'round

Nothing beats a new pair of shoes and that is the truth of the matter.
These fine things in particular have a real wooden wedge that clips-and-clops when you walk. They also have velcro which is great for convenience and feeling like a youngin' once again.

no body likes pictures of other peoples bare toes - and that is the truth of that matter.

Today is terribly terribly hot. I didn't even know because I've been lounging around all day watching 17+ episodes of Say Yes to the Dress and only went outside to make a list of veggies growing in our church community garden (best idea anyone has yet to have) because I am generously making signs for them. I'm great at giving back to my community. Woo!

I think I got a sunburn from the 10 minutes I was outside.

I stayed up until... 3:30 last night because I couldn't go to sleep, then woke up at 11 which I h-a-t-e doing because I like mornings!! But so far this summer I've been on a stupid schedule of late nights and late mornings like every other teen out there and I feel very very off.

What else...

Pumped Up Kicks is an addictive song and I also cut my toe on accident and cried.

No one every admits to crying over slight injuries but I do because gosh darn it hurts.
Or maybe no one does cry... too bad kids, I certainly cried.

Now you are up to date on what my life has been up to these days, and as you can see, I've been super busy with all this stuff and I certainly don't have time to blog. Now excuse me, I have to go watch more people buy wedding dresses.

Well folks, I'll be honest. Summer has gotten off to a weird start. It's not as fun as I remembered last summer, I think that's my problem. I was expecting last summer to start up again, and the truth of it is is that last summer is over and now it's this summer and not every summer can be the best one ever. But there are perks. For example, doing a jazz dance, becoming a licensed driver (almost), going to mock interviews due to DYW, shoe shopping due to previously mentioned DYW.

Oh but I digress. This post is titled 'a post of inspiration' and that paragraph was uninspiring. These pictures however...

...are inspiring, if I may say so myself. Because everyone likes the glow of a good party from afar. Especially me.

While the mind is on literature, I thought I'd mention some Gerard Manley Hopkins, whom I think is safe to say, is my favorite poet. Not so much for content - Spring and Fall's mortality subject matter is fine but not the thing that makes it so intriguing. In fact, I don't even know what most of my favorite Hopkins poems are supposed to mean. But how can you not enjoy the lines Leaves, like the things of man, you / With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?

Hopkins rolls off the tongue in such a beautiful way. It's so poetic without ever being sing-song. If you research more of his work you'll see how compelling it is. He repeats words in the same line, he alliterates everything, it's full of sound. It mostly just sounds lovely.

If I recommend you read any they would be Pied Beauty, for it's a classic, and Binsey Poplars because it sounds especially nice. Almost a tongue-twister but not so frustrating.

that's enough literature for me for now!

This is exactly the point I wanted to make in my english paper this year. Too bad I had yet to find a $2 copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray in the dollar aisle of Target to find the quote that would say it how I meant it. Not that I think it's really a fault, but I've always believed that beautiful things are there to be beautiful. Not critiqued to unearth something ugly beneath.

In Jessica Kerwin Jenkin's Encyclopedia of the Exquisite, she includes l'art pour l'art, or art for art's sake. She quotes the American painter John McNeill Whistler saying...

"'Art should be independent of all claptrap,' Whistler proclaimed, 'should stand alone, and appeal to the artistic sense of eye or ear, without confounding this with emotions entirely foreign to it, as devotion, pity, love, patriotism, and the like.'"

and that is enough food for thought for today.

I'm in love with those classy deep-V-back dresses. So simple, so elegant, so everything I hope to be when I grow up. Some other high points include the red pants & floral blouse combo, that stunning navy lace confection of a dress, and the general splendor of the blue background, messy hair-do, and red lips. Also, I think zero mascara is the way to go. Do I need to go over that again?

Hey Folks.

I've been sitting on this here computer for the entire day practically. You see, I don't have my drivers license and when you want your drivers license but you also want to be your own boss and take drivers ed online over the summer, it means you get to spend your entire day on the compy. Little do people realize that being your own boss doesn't mean setting your own hours - it means you get to be the boss for every single hour. No breaks.

Anyway. Today also consisted of the first hour of Amelie and a terrible headache along with the assemblage of notebooks for camp in which I am in charge of. There was a delivery of vintage for extra measure, as well as a pretty moon and lots of moon shadows.

I love moon shadows, but they're just so tricky and don't like to be photographed.

It was suggested to me that this summer I work on getting a passport.

Passports sound very romantic don't you think?

The "of, characterized by, or suggestive of an idealized view of reality : a romantic view of the past" definition of the word. I've always just assumed I would travel the world. It would seem a shame not to. There's such a beautiful world out there, so many more things to experience and learn and see and taste, that to stay in one little town all your life seems almost wasteful.

So this summer I think I'll get my passport.

And then, for the rest of my life, I'll fill it.

I'd love to be a globetrotter.

Les Demoiselles de Rochefort

Tonight, while my eyes were swelling up in allergy agony, I abandoned learning about motor skills for my summer PE class, and instead sought out a good movie. I had intended to watch Amelie, but it's not on instant play, so instead I went with the other suggested film The Young Girls of Rochefort, a '60's french film about some young girls from Rochefort!

All the reviews said it was the longest feeling musical and not worth watching for a gripping plot, only visual enjoyment. Perfect! And they were right!

The film was sprinkled with cheeky musical numbers popping out of nowhere, and charming old buildings with pastel costumes flooding the streets. There was also no shortage of sailors with big red pom-poms on their hats. Here are some of my favorite screen shots...

The high side-kicks were a clear favorite of the choreographer.

It was always such a tricky question to answer when someone asked you what grade you were in when it was summer. Do you say, I just finished 5th grade or I am going to be in 6th? Do you say I'm a 5th Grader or do you say I'm a 6th Grader? Perhaps summer is really a no man's land. You aren't in school, therefore how could you be in a grade. Couldn't you just say, I'm 11 years old instead? It reminds me of Le Petite Prince, which says...

Grown-ups like numbers. When you tell them about a new friend, they never ask questions about what really matters. They never ask: "What does his voice sound like?" "What games does he like best?" "Does he collect butterflies?". They ask: "How old is he?" "How many brothers does he have?" "How much does he weigh?" "How much money does his father make?" Only then do they think they know him.

Now that it's summer, I find myself wondering how to answer that question for the last time of all my school years. (I hadn't thought about it that way yet. Oh dear.) I've decided I'm perfectly fine with just being 16 years old. I'm no longer a junior, and not yet a senior. I'm just 16.

I wrote a post last night at midnight, but used my better judgement and did not post it, good thing too, because I think I made up a word somewhere in it.

Today doesn't even feel like it happened. I woke up with a headache and am going to bed with a headache, I can't hear myself think. And I have such itchy eyes from allergies I hardly know what to do.

In case you were wondering this song has been on repeat in my brain for four days!! Surely, Les Mis is great but not after four days nonstop in the brain, it's really becoming an issue. Go to 3:18 in the video to hear what I mean.

I think I'll go make mashed potatoes. But it will be hard because my headache is such that I can hardly think. (Is there are song lyric that says 'such that I can hardly speak'? Yes yes, Frank Sinatra, I knew it.)

Teen Vogue writes some good articles about teens and their tanning habits. And now that it's summer, the word should be spread even more. Read this today, pass it on, etc. Because it's such a silly thing to risk your life for! The best part about this article is that in the swimsuit editorial that comes a few pages after, the models aren't tan at all!

Here's some advice for you: I put sunscreen on my face every morning on sunny days. Not just an spf make-up but real sunscreen. So far, it's been worth the time it takes to work into my 'beauty routine' (which is basically just putting on mascara). For all of you pale-skinners out there, you ought to too!

I spy the moon!!

I saw Les Miserables with my family tonight! But I didn't even cry! I had been so prepared to sob, but all I got was a furrowed brow. I think I was so caught up in my expectations and then seeing what it really was that I couldn't think about how teary I should have been. When we first really started listening to the soundtrack I could sit in my room and cry all I wanted, but when it was there in front of me I was too caught up in everything about it that no tears came forth! Despite my lack of deep emotional response, the production was still very beautiful and of course, very tragic. Jean Valjean had an amazing voice, as did really everyone. If there is one thing I wish I could do it's sing. Oh, what it would be like to sing with so much power and emotion and again so soft and breathtaking. I really loved it! It was surprising that the songs I liked most in life weren't all the solos that you know by heart, but instead the big ensemble 'battle marches'. Those people can sing.

Prada, Why I Oughta...

Hey look! A double post day? This hasn't happened in quite some time! But what did I tell you... summer brings good things!

Prada did an incredible collection for Fall 2011 and I had to share it, because I keep thinking about it and being obsessed. If I don't start talking it out of my system things could get crazy. So take a look and see what I mean...

Okay. Number one: Those mermaid-scale dresses are making me swoon. Something about them is mesmerizing. It might be because I just saw Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday (and when I see a movie, my brain gets stuck on it forever and everything I think about is full of that movie. That happened with True Grit, The Kings Speech, Pride & Prejudice, all those good things.) But somehow it happened with Pirates of the Caribbean so now I'm all stuck on this mermaid pearlescent and kind of neon pink idea. Cool.

Secondly: What will I do without those boots in my life. You tell me. Mary-janes with python socks all mooshed into a pair of boots. They're odd-balls, but I'm in love.

Lastly, The makeup is the best I've yet to see as of late. And a plus is that it's easy to recreate. In fact, I even just recreated it five minutes ago. I was already half way there because I didn't wear any mascara today. (I am stunning without mascara on, if you know what I mean. Like "does that girl have eyelashes!?? stunning. Get it? No? Okay never mind.)

So yes. Obsessed.
Go see Pirates of the Caribbean or something.

better than buns

Last summer I discovered the high messy bun. Yep, I sure did hop on that bandwagon.

And I am still riding it. Messy buns have practically completed my life, because I never do my hair and its the most simple 'do that I can wear to school, to ballet, to church, to fancy things and to casual things. A winner all around, as you can see.

But this summer... I've discovered the Gaga bow.

did I ever tell you I've never dyed my hair in my entire life? fun fact.

It's really not as versatile as the messy bun. At all. BUT it is nice to shake things up, and it's like wearing a headband without even wearing a headband. (...I do need to figure out a way to fix those fly-aways though.) Maybe next time I'll make you a tutorial. I've never done one of those before, it could be fun.

I decided to write to you a post about something I learned this year. I really don't mean to be all sad sounding about it, I don't want it to come across in such a way. But, I think everyone has tricky years and this was one of those years for me. I think I mostly just want to say it out loud.

This year, I ate lunch by myself. A lot.

Yes, everyone eats lunch by themselves. It's a fact of life. But in high school, people like to pretend that it isn't, and eating lunch by yourself is made to seem 'lonely' or 'sad'. I wasn't so lonely or sad, or maybe I was, but I didn't let myself think or feel that way. Instead I felt like I was being independent. I felt like I wasn't bogging anyone down, and I felt like I wasn't being bogged down. But being independent isn't quite so fun when it becomes routine.

The thing about this is not that I'm on a sorry search for friends. I'll make friends. I have to, it's inevitable. Maybe all I want to say is that, as 'fun' or 'cool' as it feels to say maybe that one little mean thing, that you don't 'mean' but you say anyways, is, it sometimes maybe hurts enough to kind of make someone feel like you don't want them there. It might even result in someone eating lunch by themselves for nearly the whole year. Maybe your little vibe of "i don't want you here" does get the message across enough and does make someone feel like you don't want them there.

Again, don't feel sorry for me. I'm not sorry over it. (or maybe a little, but not devastatingly.) Just think about your actions. Think about your glances, think about your words. I don't mean to blame anyone for being 'mean' to me, I just hope to suggest that everyone has tricky times, and you never know who's time your making tricky or even trickier.

It's a chance to learn, like everything is. And I can take it as a grain of salt, and be glad that this year I learned more than ever that home is the happiest place I can think of, and that family is the most important thing ever. So, Jr. Year taught me to be more aware. To notice the people sitting alone, to notice the people inching away, to notice the sound of someone's words and notice their expression. It taught me to be less self conscious. When you let go of all of your insecurities that's when you'll be able to reach out, and others might even feel able to reach out to you too.

I must admit, I am quite in love with the whole 'brights and neutral' combo these days. Though, I hardly wear it because I don't have quite so many bright pieces in my closet, as I do neutral. Oh but still, lemon is just such a nice sounding word. I love when fruits and colors share a name :)

and I wish there was a less dorky way to indicate a smile, than a smiley face.

-Not being at Noah & The Whale
I had such high hopes for a grand pen pal adventure when we found out about the concert a few months ago, but as fate would have it, arrangements could not be made. We are devastated. They are, after all, our theme song band.
-The sun was out, but so was the wind and the 50 degree temperature.
-There are no pictures in this post because that is the way to go.

AWESOME:
-New swimsuit that I really really like! Except for that it is a size too small, but that is soon to be fixed!
-The little brother is getting a cool new haircut
-The older brother got his wisdom teeth out. It is funny.
-the little Bunny Noir is my best friend.
-The time is summer. Ready set go.

FOLKS - I almost forgot to tell you...

You heard it. No more school for me (until the year next)!!

I did fabulously well on all of my finals. (A's on all, thank you very much.)

I get to boast about this because I never do so great on finals, so this is an occasion to boast.

And even though I'm missing out on a good concert with my pen pal, because she's in Iowa or whatever, things are still looking up. Because summer = time, and time = blogging!

Hey kids. Sorry for the light-to-none posting these days. I've had minimal time seeing as school is out this time next week! Which awesome, except for the part where I have 8 (count them, 8!) finals this week and next. Three finals the day before school gets out is crazy-pants, and I'll never understand what whoever's idea that was was thinking when they came up with it.

However. The fact that summer is fast approaching could be possibly the best thing I've heard in a long time, mostly due to the fact that junior year turned out to be a downer, no matter how many high hopes I had for it. The scary part about it almost being summer is that next year I will be a senior and that, my friends, is almost more crazy pants than three finals on the last day of school.

So here is a nice Notebook Doodle that has to do with the topic. Huzzah!

Maybe, I'll see you this weekend, but for now, this shall be the only new post of the week. There is much to be done, left and right, left and right!

AWKWARD

-Whoever decided to sabotage the chicken sandwiches at lunch today by throwing in some ham and cheese with them. It made for an awkward lunch of eating a chicken patty with only the bottom half of the bun.
-The after stench in the science class room after biology's dissection unit... No no, that wasn't awkward, just awful.
-Having to say hello to teachers in the hallway.
-Walking behind a really slow super tall person in a crowded hall. It's what I imagine driving behind a super slow truck with no way to pass or see what's going on is like.
-How everything awkward happens at school.

AWESOME

-Jenna Lyons when asked if she feels she has to create clothes that the average american woman can buy... "I feel a sense of responsibility to make clothes that anyone can have and I don't think women are average, I think they're awesome."
-The Blind Contessa's New Machine, I'm less than half way through but the writing is so pretty.
- Snazzy shirts on sale!
- Newfound photo shop skills.
-The little brothers teaching me how to skate and play roller hockey. They're favorite part is telling me my skills are lacking. Old news boys, old news.
- EUREKA! Blue Skies For The First Time In Days!
(yes those all deserve their capitalizations!!)

Lastly, I can't decide if this is awkward or awesome.

Hello everyone!!

I stayed up until midnight learning these skills and I wasn't about to let the results wait until morning!

The Daybook has a magnificent photoshop tutorial! Woohoo!

I've had photoshop for over a year and am super bad at it. So bad, I think I've even opened the program maybe five times since I installed it. So much for making use of what's taking up my lappy's whole memory.

But now, I'm giddy with my new found knowledge!!

Watch out for onslaughts of edited photos!

I would make a list of the things I didn't do, but what use is that, eh?
I did, however, do my psychology project which has been on my mind (harhar) for the past month.
At least that feels lovely to check off the planner.

This is my new cause!

I have red hair and fair skin, and a slight family history of such skin things.

In the spring time I wear sunscreen everyday (at least on my face)

And in the summer, I sure do spend the time to get a good coat, and reapply, and reapply etc.

But just because you aren't red haired and fair skinned doesn't mean you're free to sit in the sun!

So so so many girls my age go tanning and it's such a shame!
(because it rarely looks good, and its so awful for you!)

Therefore, I am hoping to spread the word a little more this month, and for the rest of the months of the year. Tanning is not necessary and not harmless!

Tell the sixteen year olds in your life, and if you are sixteen heed the warnings!

I could not for the life of me get that second picture to post straight, so I thought it would be nice of me to help you stretch your neck while reading the blog.

Yes folks, it seems dreams do come true, as you can see, I've gotten myself a pair of wide leg jeans and boy-oh-boy look at us go!! I will tell you, they are more of trousers-to-wear-to-the-library type flares than its-the-70's-again type flares. Which is probably fine, becaues I do a lot more of going to the library than its the 70's again....

As you can see I'm wearing a nice striped shirt a la Urban Outfitters, yellow flats from an unknown source, sunnies from BP (highly recommend, let me tell you...) and a belt from H&M I believe.

Oh yes, and the jeans are from gap.

I'll be honest, the sunglasses were largely because I did not have any eye makeup on and did not feel like applying any just then.

I actually don't care much for the music videos of these songs (except for coin laundry, which, ahem, everyone loves.) These are songs that hands down whenever I hear them make me think of a time called summer. Just plain old summers songs.

I really do need to just go to bed by now, but I don't want to turn off the jazz on the radio, so I decided to write a post until it turned over to the BBC at midnight.

Last month or so, I was surfing the web (like all cool cats do) and found a bunch of old stories from archive issues of Teen Vogue. Let me tell you, the old Teen Vogue's had some serious treasures. In no particular order...

I love how uninhibited the styling was (and still is) in Teen Vogue, and how it always seems rather age appropriate. Seriously, some 'teen' magazines these days are alarming.

That's why I stick to my Teen Vogue, Martha Stewart Weddings, House Beautiful and ever growing Vogue archives.

Le Petite Prince

I don't have a favorite movie, or a favorite song, or a favorite quote, or even a favorite color.
But The Little Prince is absolutely my favorite book in the whole world.
{I believe I've mentioned this before}
And I couldn't even really tell you why.

The first time I read it was in 8th Grade for english class. It was one of those books that everyone moaned and groaned about and said was weird and didn't make any sense. But I absolutely loved it.

Since then, I've collected the normal version, the pop-up version, and the movie version.

In french today we read the first chapter (my first time ever reading it in French) and it reminded me just how lovely it is. So when I got home, I picked up my copy (in english) and started reading again.

I really could not tell you what is so perfect about it. It's just perfect.

Perhaps it's the plain truth to everything thats in it.
Or perhaps it's just how darling the Little Prince is himself.
Perhaps it's the wording and funny pictures.
Whatever it is, it is my favorite.

Like I said before I couldn't tell you. But when you read it {which you really ought if you've never before} it's just so perfect. It just is.
