comment allez-vous, i'm alright, how are you.

I ask them to take a poem
and hold it up to the light
like a color slide
or press an ear against its hive.
I say drop a mouse into a poem
and watch him probe his way out,
or walk inside the poem's room
and feel the walls for a light switch.
I want them to water-ski
across the surface of a poem
waving at the author's name on the shore.
But all they want to do
is tie the poem to a chair with rope
and torture a confession out of it.
They begin beating it with a hose
to find out what it really means.

... and now I must write a response. But, I think I've already mentioned how I feel about this stuff.

This year, I am not taking hard classes. This is not to say that I am taking easy classes, I'm just taking worthwhile classes. I'm taking math, I'm taking AP english, I'm taking my sixth year of French class, and I'm taking interior design and photography. None of it really qualifies as 'hard', but it qualifies as interesting. And when your whole schedule is full of interesting and you actually really want to do a good job, it turns into 'hard'. Especially when you have time management issues like, ahem, someone I know... who is me. And if you asked me what I've been doing all day, I would answer to you "No, I have not been making covers for my binders and online browsing ASOS. That is for sure..."

Haha, Oh school, what am I to do about you?

ps: we gave our bunnies to the pet store today. they were ruining the grass in our backyard, and they turned mean once we got two of them and they didn't need us anymore. but it sure was sad to see little Ruby shaking and sad when we took her to the pet store. oh ruby and abel! if only you hadn't been so rude none of this would ever have happened! :(

First, I love Billy Collins.

Second, it seems you were originally in my AP Art History class, but then transferred out? That's too bad, because I think it'll be one of those "worthwhile classes".

Third, I can completely relate to what you said about "actually really wanting to do a good job". And you're right...classes are hard when you really care about them.

Oh yes. AP Art History. I was in that, but am now doing an internship fourth period instead. It is too bad because I was really excited for that class, and it probably would have been good to take because I'm considering art history for college. But alas... We'll just have to be in Photography together :)

I have two bunnies, so I understand you. Bunnies need to go through a process called "bonding." They aren't the type of animals that can just be put together and they will get along. The process can take from 1 month to a year, depending on how well they get along. Thank you for taking the steps to letting the furry babies find a home that will be good for them. Sometimes, that doesn't happen.
