bye, goodbye, au revoir!

well well well, it is goodbye at last.

Yes I know I just posted about blogging more and that is not a lie, I'm just here to tell you I will be blogging somewhere else! It is called Rosie Loves Rococo and it is all ready for your perusing, and would really enjoy the company.

With that, I must bid farewell to Everything is Rosie. This blog has been good to me indeed, but times are a-changin', and by times I mean I'm not in high school anymore, and it's nice to get a fresh start, is it not?

Select posts will be transferred from these archives to the new blog, and there is a new url which you'll automatically be redirected to after today, so say your official farewells now!

au revoir Everything is Rosie, I really do love you!
bonjour Rosie Loves Rococo, I really will love you!

really though, Rodarte.

Through the tangled web that is the internet, I came across the Rodarte website just the other day and instantly had a minor freak out over how much I loved it and I knew I had to share it with you, so here we are.

Rodarte.net has all sorts of amazing things on it's crisp white pages. For starters, killer backstage photos of one of my favorite seasons (Fall 2012) as well as video of all their runway shows. Then as if their normal genius wasn't enough to peruse, there are all sorts of photos of their side projects - their Black Swan tutu's, Don Giovanni costumes, and their own little curated magazine featuring the darling Elle Fanning and Kirsten Dunst.

I would consider this the funnest website I've come across since the good old days of playing games on Miniclip, and the screenshots here are barely tuppence of all there is. Go to it!

For any of you that have been a-wonderin' about what is going on over here the answers are these:

amy leach writes beautiful things.

i had no idea who amy leach was until noon today when i attended a reading of hers at school. and i'm so glad i've found her. i wish i could post everything she's written (but i can't) and although i would love so much to share the entire piece that is "Comfortless", i also can't. so i leave you with my favorite part and encourage you to read everything amy leach has written. including her book and even her interviews (the way she describes texas, amiright?)
"I will wake up as Chocolate-mint Person, I will stumble to the door, unhappily attracting sand and feathers on the way; I will stand on the lawn; I will look up at the stars and bleat, "Stars! I am having trouble with my comforter! You are so serene! How can I be serene like you?" They will look at each other knowingly, for they have answered this question millions of times. And then they will twinkle back to me, "Person, you will never be like a star. Things for you will always float away and spill and melt. The closest thing to serenity for you, is laughing." I will recognize this as true. I will stand there, just another sandy, feathery, chocolate-mint person laughing on the lawn."

"wanderlust" is so overused

it's time

it's time by rosieindeed

me and some friends had "french saturday" today (luckily due to cancelled tests and closed cafes) in which we got crepes for lunch followed by raspberry mousse, madeleines, and meringue from a local french bakery ("mer-ci")! one of these friends is off to Paris this fall for study abroad, so we talked about France all day, and gee whiz did all that talk instill some serious wanderlust in my heart!
oh what i would give to be anywhere but utah right now...

soon. right?

#Unreal

my first exposure to Passion Pit was circa 2009 when The Reeling was included in the first free playlist i ever downloaded from urban outfitters. i thought it was pretty cool and Sleepyhead proceeded to become one of my jams ever since. other past encounters with Passion Pit grew to include mix cd's and cool boys dancing to it in high school math class.

they were supposed to play last summer at the twilight concert series but cancelled, crushing mine and (my little brotha) River's dreams. I had unwittingly gotten River super hyped up (he even claimed they were his favorite band ever) only for The Let Down of Summer 2012.
So, for Christmas we wished for tickets and luckily we're lucky and looky what happened.
Yay!

i hope you'll enjoy the 13 seconds worth of footage i managed to get before my phone memory filled up and ruined my life. its still a pretty killer little clip, no?

Matt & Kim were surprisingly killer. not that i wasn't looking forward to them, i just didn't have any expectations so when they did things like be hilarious / play dubstep in between their songs and dance / stand on the bass drum / stand on the audience / do the harlem shake, it was pretty much just way cool.

i could bore you all with plenty of details regarding things like annoying fellow concert-goers, the best songs, jokes they made, bubble machines, merch tables, record-breaking levels of sweatiness and jumping so hard/singing so loud that i'm still sore, but for all of our sakes i'll just wrap up with this playlist of favorites and leave you all to enjoy.

from the weekend.

march got off to a good start, I'd say.

the first involved watching The Artist on the big screen and it reminded
me of how much i am in love with that movie.
then saturday involved seeing Passion Pit and Matt & Kim with my
brother and it was #insane. there will be a more
expansive post to follow so stay tuned.
then this happened in my wallet on sunday so i took a picture.

the wood desk background is throwing me off too.

things i thought about on tuesday the 26th

(as published on friday the 1st)
-the logistics of cutting my hair
 yes. that cut.
-eddie redmayne's blue velvet suit.
lets be honest, it's pretty slick.
-how i miss listening to vampire weekend
Campus by Vampire Weekend on Grooveshark
"walking 'cross the campus" = story of my life
-Orazio Gentileschi's Annunciation
aka: how kick-A i think i did on my baroque midterm essay.

happy weekend, happy end of february.

overall... i like them.

i think i like overalls.

somehow doing homework turned into "overalls are pretty cool" and before i knew it i was googling 'womens straight leg overalls' (which, if you were wondering, brings up about 0 results). the funniest part about this is how when i was little i hated overalls! just hated them. they were so uncomfortable to play in and when third grade field day resulted in wet clothes all i remember thinking is "i hope mom doesn't bring me overalls."

but i suppose when overalls are leather or eyelet or paired with brogues and striped t-shirts,
it just changes things.

how i met matthew crawley

i just got around to watching the season finale of downton abbey and i write this post with a heavy heart. i wish i were more kidding but seriously how could downton do this to us!?
no spoilers here, but if you've seen the season three finale you will understand that this is as apropos a time as any to finally get around to writing this post.

i'm here today to tell you the story of how i met matthew crawley.
it is a serendipitous tale that takes place in three parts so without further ado...

fourteenth

my wrist is having a happy valentines.
valentines days have always been pretty good in my book, even though i've never really had "a valentine". its mostly because valentines is my half-birthday, and half-birthdays are a huge deal when you have a summer birthday because its the only chance you get to make your class pay attention to the fact that you too have a birthday. in kindergarten my mama sent me to school with hershey kiss roses, and since then i've been pretty good friends with valentine's day.

so listen to some charles trenet
and i hope you have a lovely day.
XO Rosie

post script: also about today- me and some friends just saw Warm Bodies and in case you haven't yet you need to go watch it because of #zombieboyfriends. and then come back here and comment so we can talk about it. no like for real so good the end.

hey jcrew look at you

i've been super bugged with j. crew for the past couple seasons (maybe years), which sounds dramatic because it obviously is! no but really. i fell in love with j. crew back when jenna was new and they were doing all of the ruffles and pretties. then before we knew it everyone was doing ruffles and pretties and j. crew reverted back to boxy blouses, straight leg trousers, and color blocking and i've been left craving ruffles and pretties ever since.

however. i think fall 2013 is proving to be bit of a j. crew redemption in my book. a super-jeweled, richly colored, pointy-toe heeled redemption. (there's even a bit of cute retro-y back-to-school in the menswear that i might borrow). so without further ado... my favorite looks from j. crew's fall 2013 collection:

well done, jenna. well done.
